Manchester United have confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ‘left his role as manager’ following the club’s embarrassing defeat to Watford.
Solskjaer has been relieved of his managerial duties at Old Trafford after losing 4-1 at Watford on Saturday.
The humiliating Premier League defeat leaves his side in seventh place, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and six points adrift of fourth-placed West Ham
Michael Carrick will be in temporary charge until the club appoints an ‘interim manager’ for the rest of the season.
Eight days after celebrating a goal against Albania by cupping his ears, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was sent off in their 4-1 defeat to Premier League strugglers Watford.
The 28-year-old’s attempts to send a defiant message to his critics on that day at Wembley were labelled “embarrassing” by Roy Keane, who slammed Maguire’s club performances as a “disgrace” at half-time.
Well, things didn’t exactly go to plan for the England international on Saturday afternoon. Just five minutes after picking up a yellow card for hauling down Sarr, United’s captain was sent for an early bath.
He dawdled on the ball in the 69th minute and as a result, Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley nicked the ball off him. Moments later, Maguire brought him down and referee Jon Moss had no other option to send him off.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then proceeded to high-five Maguire as he made his way down the tunnel.
South Africa is relying on the analysis of a ‘lying, attention-seeking’ ex-referee Ace Ncobo in their protest over Ghana’s 1-0 win over the Bafana Bafana in last Sunday’s 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has collaborated with Ncobo to analyze the game, and the referee claimed in the first half alone almost 90 per cent of wrong calls went against South Africa.null null
Ace Ncobo, the general manager of the PSL in 2009, was forced to resign after failing a lie-detecting test regarding allegations of corruption and his role in investigating match-fixing claims at the time in the South African league by referees.
After his resignation, the PSL described him as a liar and an attention seeker. It seems he is in the same vein again with SAFA.
The same former referee, who was not seen credible enough to manage the PSL, is now at the forefront of the South African FA’s press conferences trying to justify bias officiating of the Senegalese match official in the Ghana game.
He first appeared on SuperSport TV, presenting his claimed findings in trying to indict the match official of bias officiating, and also at SAFA’s press conference yesterday, Wednesday, November 17.
In a SAFA media briefing Wednesday, Ncobo claimed to have spent five hours and 17 minutes analyzing the first half only and then another two hours for the second half.
And what he discovered was that referee Maguette N’Diaye may have influenced the outcome of the game as 90.9 per cent of incorrect decisions were made.
Furthermore, Ncobo said he picked up 71 major incidents from the same game which the referee either turned a blind eye in favour of Ghana or made incorrect calls against Bafana Bafana.
“My independent conclusion is that the referee in this match was blatantly biased against South Africa.
“90.9 per cent of incorrect decisions against one team is a clear case of a match official unlawfully influencing and/or manipulating the course and/or the outcome of the match.
“I spent five hours and 17 minutes watching the first half and putting together the report.
“But the second half was two hours of reviewing because most of the time I was just watching football and the referee making good decisions. There were 71 major incidents during the game,” said Ncobo.
Ace Ncobo’s findings are now part of SAFA’s evidence to bias officiating and match manipulation sent to Fifa to get the match replayed.
Fifa has requested the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to respond to SAFA’s protest, if any, by November 20 and the case will be forwarded to Fifa’s Disciplinary Committee on November 23.
